Visiting the new Edge observation deck today and visiting the other three main observation decks multiple times I would have to say it is not worth going out of your way to visit the Edge. Hear me out. New York’s Edge location is just inconvenient so far east, only accessible by one subway, compared to Top of the Rock and the Empire State Building which are easy to walk to and accessible by almost every single subway line. If you have time and an extra $36 and really want to go, definitely check it out, see what the hype is about and let me know your thoughts. If you like many visitors only have time to visit one observation deck, I would still recommend Top of the Rock as the best overall view because it has the Empire State Building in its view. Now I have to add visit Top of the Rock for an “unobstructed” view straight on of the Empire State Building because Edge has a new side view of the skinnier side of the Empire State Building that is partially covered by another building. If you prefer history, secrets, reliving movie moments, bragging rights and a no-glare, glass-in-your-way view then visit the Empire State Building. Since I have already visited Chicago’s Skydeck the novelty of the glass view down is not as appealing to me, but that’s my opinion. I want to hear what you think? Sound off in the comments below.
